About Kirkjubæjarklaustur
Welcoming Heaven for all Kind of Travelers and Nature Lovers
Kirkjubaejarklaustur, or “Klaustur” as it is usually referred to by locals, is a small town in the south of Iceland and is home to about 120 people. The town is located on road no. 1, also known as the Ring Road, and it is the only place between Vík in Mýrdal and Höfn that offers services. Those services include a fuel station, a bank, a post office and a supermarket.

The road to Kirkjubæjarklaustur
Hotel Klaustur is ideally located in the heart of Iceland’s South Coast between Reykjavik and Höfn. There are many beautiful sights to see on the journey from Reykjavík to Klaustur, such as Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss and Eyjafjallajökull. And once you’re here, there is even more to see, only a short walk or drive away, from the nearby hiking trails to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and Skaftafell National Park.

Good location and good rooms, but it was the staff that made it special. In particular, Joel at reception gave us great guidance on what to see in the area, and Magda and Mihal in the restaurant and bar provided great service for us for during happy hours and the dinner between.

Friendly informative staff. We received excellent service. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Very good selection of choices for evening meal. Breakfast is self service, again with an excellent choice.
